Smart Babies Want More, Seattle

uncircumcised.JPG

Apparently there is some group that goes around spreading the message that babies shouldn’t be circumcised. I’m constantly amazed how every cause, no matter how irrelevant and seemingly secondary to so many other causes, can attract followers who are willing to spend their time, money, and efforts to promote it.

Not the greatest job of vandalism anyway. With a little work they could have matched the background color, font color, and font, and have put something up that looked like it was actually part of the real sign.

Actually, there are plenty of valid reasons to object to the removal of healthy, functioning genital tissue from infants; the removal of foreskin is fundamentally a religious practice that may cause psychological distress upon newborns, decrease penile sensation, and create serious complications from infection and bleeding. The RACP reports that the penis is lost in 1 in 1,000,000 circumcisions, and The American Academy of Family Physicians estimates that 1 in 500,000 infants die from circumcision every year.

The USA is the only civilized nation on earth where the majority (i.e., 60%) of babies are circumcized. It’s a stupid and unnecessary practice that should be dropped asap.

ok. so i was reading up on weather or not i should get my (soon to be here son) circumcised and i came apon this and other website. and it’s actually heathier for the baby and for there future sex partners if they do get circumcised. i know some people aren’t going to agree with me but more than anything else it lowers the possiblity by 5% of sexually active women to get HPV. so that right there is enough for me to want my son circumcised.

Really circumcision is cruel genital mutilation and has nothing to do with health or hygiene. We now know that infants feel pain more than adults do not less. Circumcision is just another one of the things people keep doing without thinking about it, because that’s the way its always been done. Time for not thinking to stop!

I was circumcised as an infant and I have been very displeased with it. I wish my parents had had the foresight to ask me what I wanted.

Male and female infant circumcision is child abuse and violation of a defenseless child’s body. By mutilating the genitals of children you are permanently mitigating their sexuality. Google the function of the foreskin, it is not just skin but 20,000 touch sensitive nerves, estrogen receptors and helps promote erections. Don’t make the choice to deprive a child of a healthy sex life as an adult. To the poster Tiffany: Babies are not at risk for sexually transmitted diseases like HPV. Besides if you want to be promiscuous and spread a contracted STD like HPV a condom will 100% protect you and your partners. What if your son wants to grow up and be monogamous and have a natural sex life with his wife? Why would you make the decision to take that away from him forever? Let him make the decision. You can always cut off a piece of your body later in life, but you can never have a severed body part back.

if you have every seen a baby when they are being circumcised, then you would know that it is wrong. the only reason that a doctor would tell you that it is better is the money factor. doctors get anywhere between 900-3000 dollars for each circumcisin that they perform. each doctor akes an oath that they will never cause any unneccessary ham to anyone. many famous people have never been circumcised. for example, martin luther king and eddie murphy. i am not saying that just because they are famous that you shouldnt do it. i am saying that you shouldnt do it because it is wrong. if you choose to get your child circumcised, then go in the operation room and listen to the screams of your defenceless little baby. if you dont believe me, then try looking for videos on it. it will show you how bad it really is. and, if this is not enough to convince you not to circumcise your child, then it is your choice. but, how are you going to explain to your child when he grows up that yu were supposed to be boy. in fact, you were born a boy. we went to get you circumcised and it was botched, so we turned your penis into a vagina. this will probably be your answer when your child grows up and wonders why the love women so much if the are a girl. do this, and then see how much that your child really loves you. NO CIRC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

tiffany will probably never see this but the website is full of lies. Fact check next time. I hope your baby doesn’t get PENILE NECROSIS.

It really sounds like the people that did this to the bill board might be on this site . Maybe Everyone against Circ’s might need to talk to someone that has had it done instead of taking there information from the internet you can not believe everything even from a doctor. The best thing to go by is what you believe should be done.

I agree P.B, strange how there is no discussion about the billboard but only arguments against circumcision.
Anyway, I agree it would be better to ask people about their own experiences and talk about both the advantages and disadvantages. That way parents can decide for themselves. I try to avoid basing my opinions on only statistics.

This is a topic I’m pretty opinionated about. I have been with circumcised men and uncircumcised men. In my experience, every uncircumcised partner has had a VERY sensitive glans (head) due to it being covered all the time, and thus can’t last during oral or intercourse for more than 1-3 minutes. These men masturbated regularly like most men, had sex with various numbers of partners before me, yet the sensitivity and lack of stamina was still present. It was extremely disappointing. Two of them complained that any kind of sexual contact was borderline uncomfortable because it was TOO stimulating and too sensitive. I can relate as it probably feels exactly the same as when my clitoris is stimulated directly vs. with the hood left over it. I HATE it, it is not enjoyable at all. If my hood had been removed at birth, and my clitoris became used to contact over the years growing up and became less sensitive, I wouldn’t have that problem. The same goes for men.

The foreskin also harbors bacteria, urine, sweat, dead skin cells, etc. — every uncircumcised man I’ve ever seen urinate (I work in health care) NEVER pulls back the foreskin before doing so…the urine just drips out of the end of the wrinkled pouch, thus leaving urine inside to fester along with sweat and dead skin. That is DISGUSTING. No matter how well a man washes it (and most straight men are unfortunately not as hygienic as most women would prefer), it still leaves an unmistakable odor and isn’t pleasant to encounter during oral stimulation. This hygiene problem has affected me as a woman, causing multiple instances of bacterial vaginosis (an imbalance of natural positive bacteria in the vaginal cavity causing infection, inflammation, and swelling) which is extremely irritating and painful. I have only ever slept with people in long-term committed relationships and it was a recurring issue with the ones that were not cut. The men I have dated that were circumcised had far better percentage of having a lot more stamina and less sensitivity, thus better abilities in bed and more enjoyment during sex, and I never had a problem with infections. I was also a lot more willing to engage in oral foreplay because it was clean and smooth and appealing. I will never date another uncircumcised man again and I know MANY other women that feel the same. If I have a son, I will have it done for him to save him the embarrassment and problems.

Regarding HPV, up to 80% or more of the planet’s population carries it and there are hundreds of strains. The vast majority of men carry HPV without ever having a symptom and there is NO way to test for it. Do a Google search and read up on it and you’ll see that I’m right. The strains that cause genital warts are not the same as the ones that cause cervical cancer — so a man could very well carry it from ANY previous partner (very few men are 100% perfect with condom usage and condoms often fail), and then still easily pass it to the woman he decides to spend his life with. A man with foreskin has a higher chance of carrying HPV within that skin and spreading it further.

Oh cut the bullshit Displeased, every intact guy you’ve slept with only lasts 1-3 minutes that’s completely bullshit. Two of those men said it felt TOO good and even if that was true you’d rather have them feel nothing and just care about yourself? And now you not only support male genital mutilation but you support female genital mutilation as well? It doesn’t matter how well intact men wash their penis it just isn’t good enough for you? So you’d rather suck on a circumcised penis that hasn’t been washed for a week then one that’s intact and gets washed every day? I’m sorry but this is just too ridiculous to even continue replying to your control freak ass, I hope your son enjoys a cosmetic surgery he doesn’t approve of when he gets older, and doesn’t end up like some men who have depression about it later in life.

Everybody is commenting about circumcision but the post was about the billboard vandalism. I agree with the original post that the vandals could have matched up the font and color perfectly. They probably would be getting more mileage out of the campaign if they did it, but maybe they don’t have somebody who can match it up perfectly and if they did, it would probably create a much bigger scandal. The thing is, either way, this vandalism really isn’t fair to the hospital that posted the billboard. The campaign probably is aimed more at patients than at the hospital itself, but they are using the hospital’s ad like a parasite.

Okay Ad Hominim much? Circumcision of boys is in the bible. In the old testament. But clearly in the NEW TESTAMENT Paul disagrees in accordance with the new covenant cicumcision is not required; However there ARE health reasons behind the circumcisions of today. The diseases associated with circumcisions are uncommon, but incredibly uncomfortable. I have been struggling with this practice myself because I am ambivalent about what I believe. Still, Mike, FGM is more severe try removing the penis completely along with most of the surrounding tissue. So there is not as many parallels as you believe.

# Posted by Kony on February 10th, 2010:

I think you all have missed point of the vandals. The baby appears to be leaning over his giant, uncircumcised cock! It’s actually his left foot. This was intended to be funny. But you all beat the foreskin off this dead horse.
